I never get nervous about cooking, even when cooking for others but this chocolate pie has me worried. I made it last night so we’ll soon see how it tastes.
My uncle and I remember my grandma’s chocolate pie. Vince and Sherry do not and both of them will swear it’s the best chocolate pie ever.
We had a near disaster. Vince and I got here first. Sherry asked me to see if there was a mixer here so I found one, turned it on and it appeared to work but I didn’t put the beaters in it. When you put the beaters in it . . it didn’t work! Vince took it apart and tried to clean it but then a wire broke. It was old so we tossed it but that left us no mixer for the meringue or for the carrot souffle. I hand whipped the egg whites using a whisk and Sherry used a potato masher and the whisk for the carrot souffle.
I’ll report back on the pie once we’ve tried it.

Good old methods still work.. I remember how tired my arm used to get whipping the egg whites for Mom chocolate pie. It was worth the sore arm. Good memories.
