I had been looking so forward to getting to eat at Torchy’s Tacos for weeks. A couple of weeks ago, I was so happy to find that Torchy’s has breakfast tacos since we were going to be in Waco about 9 a.m. and that’s the Torchy’s that was on our path yesterday. We got there about 9:40 after the freezer incident and . . I’m not mentioning names but there’s someone who lives at our house who will argue with GPS. She says turn right . . he turns left. She says do this . . he does that . . then he gets angry at her for not getting him where he wanted to go. I said “GPS lady . . I know exactly how you feel! ”
So, we got to Torchy’s about 9:40. I said “What time do you start serving lunch?” thinking .. if it’s at 10, I’m going to fake a tummy ache and go sit in the bathroom for 20 minutes. The guy said “Oh, we serve everything all day!” WHAT? I can get a real taco? YES!
Vince said he just couldn’t eat a taco at 9:40. Fine . . I am! And, I did.
The one on the right is South Pole. Oh, my goodness . . I think I’ll have dreams about that one for the rest of my life. I was thinking . . the next time Vince tells me he isn’t coming home for lunch, I’m telling him a fib . . that I’m going to volunteer at the library or something and I’m going back to Waco and getting myself another South Pole taco. The one on the left is The Democrat. It was good but the South Pole was amazing!
Vince got two Monk Specials – eggs and something . . boring! 🙂
He looked at the bill and said “You are an expensive date! Look at how much mine cost and look at how much yours cost!” I said . . “But I’m so worth it. Look at all the benefits of having a date with me.” I think he must have had bones in his taco because it seemed he was choking after I said that.
Poor Vince .. life is so tough living with me. 🙂
Now we have a decision to make. We have a few days to think about it. On the way home . . do we stop at Cane’s as I had planned or do we go back to Torchy’s. I think Vince will like Torchy’s better. We’ll be back in Louisiana in a little over a month and there’s a Cane’s just a few blocks from where we’ll be staying but no Torchy’s so . . Torchy’s again on the way home!

Oh, Judy…you’re worth it! 😀
The next time you travel, you won’t be hitting Torchy’s for breakfast again?

Poor Vince….he could do a lot worse! I had a good giggle about the bone in the taco comment. 🙂

Definitely do Torchy’s! We’ll still be in town, and should be over the flu by then…so…maybe we can get some Torchy’s and say hi then!

We stop at that Torchy’s location either going or returning from son’s home. Nice and convenient right off the interstate. We were fortunate to get a Torchy’s here this year. Each of their stores usually have something different from others. My husband and I just get one taco each, then get their queso to share. It is outstanding (tho we skip the super flaming hottest ever Diablo sauce they dribble on top–neither of us can take that.) I’d choose Torchy’s any day over Cane’s! Not even a contest!

The “bone in the taco” made me chuckle too…I would love to have really good Mexican food here.

I had to laugh at the GPS story. Bob’s exactly the same way – I use WAZE for directions – same as GPS and Bob will argue with me everytime. Always takes us longer to get places.

Here the South Pole is the Taco of the Month, so only available for another week. Better get it while you can!
