I was so concerned about Rita at my uncle’s lakehouse. She’s never been . . ever . . so it isn’t like she has any memory of where things are. They have a little folding fence like contraption that they keep between the kitchen so dogs can only be in the kitchen and family room. They’re blocked from the bedrooms, formal living and dining rooms. I put Rita down and she walked around and sniffed things. I think it took her a second to realize things were different . . we weren’t at home any more.
I watched her carefully checking things out. She gently bumped into the folding fence and I have not seen her bump into anything else. She walks to the sofa, stands on her back legs and puts her front paws on the sitting part of the sofa to judge the height, and then she jumps and she hasn’t missed once.
It’s so amazing to watch her.
She was tired last night. We had a long day in the car but she was so good riding. She stayed in her little bed most of the time.
I think she felt confident that both Vince and I were near her and she knew she was in good hands.
This afternoon, three more dogs will arrive . . two chihuahuas and a Yorkie. We’ll see how that goes .. hoping for the best. They’re all sweet dogs so I’m not anticipating any problems.

Sounds great ! She will “meet” those dogs by smell, anyway. New friends ! Enjoy.
Tell us everything you eat – good stuff in Louisiana. Who’s feeding the chickens and Boots?
