I will never understand men. We were packing to go on our Christmas trip. Vince is an avid coffee drinker. I don’t like it. I can drink iced coffee with lots of sweetened condensed milk but Dr. Pepper is what makes me happy. I drink the Dr. Pepper with cane sugar (no corn syrup) and those aren’t readily available everywhere . . another reason to stay in Texas! 🙂
I brought three 12 packs of Dr. Pepper with me. I should be good for a few days.
I brought my favorite pots and pans. I asked Vince if he wanted to bring his coffee pot. He has one that he loves. No . . they have a coffee pot there. I said “But, you like yours and you know how to make the perfect coffee in it. Nope, I’ll use the one that’s there.
This morning, he got up. Looked at the coffee pot. Decided he would run a pot of plain water through it to clean it. Complained about the filter. Made his coffee . . yuck . . dumped the whole pot. Made more coffee. He said it was better but still not good.
Me: Next time, bring your own pot!
Vince: I think it’s the water here.
Me: So, if you brought your own coffee pot, the coffee would not be good?
Vince: Not if it’s the water!
What?? He will not admit that he should have brought along his coffee pot!
Then that conversation lead us into this conversation:
Vince: Wherever we end up, we have to have good water.
Me: I’ll add “good water” to my list but we’d better bring a glass everywhere we go so you can test the water.
Vince: Or, we can just stay where we are. We have the best water.
Me: . . or not!!
No, I didn’t say . . or not . . but that’s what I was thinking.

My DH loved coffee, too, and I really disliked anything coffee-flavored. One year after Keurigs came out, I bought him one of those and he was in LOVE! Said it was the best Christmas present he’d ever gotten. I just bought the same DP (Albertson’s had them on for $2.50/12 pk. Need to get more today.

After horrid water in San Antonio, Las Vegas and Battle Creek MI good water was at the top of the list and we didn’t want to use a reverse osmosis system or water softner. Found good water in TN.

it could be the water – there are some places that we have traveled where we can not stand the water and will use bottled water in the coffee pot and if we don’t the coffee taste horrid

It very well could be the water. Especially if it has chlorine in it. It could also be the coffee — did he bring his own ground coffee? Hope he can get a decent cup brewed!
