I do believe Rita is taking advantage of the warm clothes situation. Yesterday I came out with a load of clothes and put them down on the sofa to fold. She immediately moved over and got on them. It was my jeans so I let her stay there. The next load was a load of T-shirts. I told Vince . . watch this! I put them on top of her and figured she’d not like it and would move but she snuggled right in and was completely buried under the warm clothes.
It wasn’t until the clothes lost their warmth that she stuck her heat out from under the pile. She may never learn to love her crate but she’s definitely developed an affection for clean, warm clothes. That’s not going to last though . . even when she’s clean, she smells a bit like a dog and I’d rather our clean clothes not smell like a dog!

Warm a couple of towels in the dryer and put them in her crate then her. It worked for my chihuahua….Yoda loved them. I also place a cat cubby in his crate. He felt safe that way.

Maybe you can dedicate a few old tshirts to the cause and they could be hers for her crate. My cats adopted an old sweatshirt of my husbands, I might stuff it for them to use as a bed.

I may be crazy, but I’ve always draped a warm piece of clothing over my shoulders when taking them out of the dryer? (I’m 76)

Mavis has been getting a baby powder treatment as she has a little doggie odor. But, she is almost perfect so we do not mind so much. A very Merry Christmas to you and yours.
