Have you noticed the lack of late night knitting reports? That’s because there’s been no late night knitting for a few days. I don’t know why I’ve been tired. A couple of nights I went to bed before Vince did. That almost never happens.
Anyway, tonight I stayed up til after 10, which is way early for me to go bed but later than I’ve been staying up.
I’ve been working on Nordnordwest and wish I could show you a picture of it but it’s so scrunched up on the needles that I can’t show much more than a wad of knitting.
I ran into a big disappointment tonight. I knew I had two skeins of the yarn I’m using (Wollmeise Pure and the color is Raku Regenbogen) but when I grabbed the second skein, I knew it was way darker than the first.
I went back to the labels because just looking at them, they don’t even look like the same color.
My first thought was to try to get more yarn. The Loopy Ewe doesn’t have it right now so I would just put the project aside and order more when they get this color but then I figured . . who knows if another skein will match what I’ve already knitted so I am going to try to alternate skeins for a while and try to fade into the darker color. We’ll see . . it is what it is and it’s my own fault for not checking the skeins before starting the project.
This project was one I was saving to work on in the car for our upcoming road trip because it’s just knitting and knitting and knitting but I’m so anxious to see if finished. I’ve read ahead on the instructions and the edging isn’t making sense to me so I’m hoping once I start doing it, it will click. I doubt I even bring this project with me because the edging looks a bit more tedious and I surely don’t want to get that far and then mess it up.
This is what it looks like against what I’ve knitted. Maybe it won’t be as noticeable as I’m thinking it’s going to be.

Hmm…I don’t knit, so clearly I don’t have a clue but, what if you purposely changed skeins where the knitting direction changes? Then if there’s a slight difference it will look as though it was deliberate. Maybe. LOL

I think it will be fine if you alternate skeins for a while. I made a sweater a few years ago where some of the skeins were radically different and I didn’t realize it until it was too late. One front and one sleeve is really different from the rest. I wear it, and act like that’s how it is supposed to be. Nobody has ever said anything about it…

I bet you can’t even tell unless you know where it stops and starts. Also no one but you will know it isn’t supposed to be this way,
