I had never heard of calamondin oranges!
I always thought we had kumquats . . sour as they can be. We’ve had these citrus trees for probably 5 years. Yesterday I was in the greenhouse and watering, and I popped one of these little things in my mouth. It was so sour that I had to spit it out. The hose knocked up some dirt and there was this orange label.
I came in, googled them and read about them, since I had never heard of them and had no idea what they were and apparently, they’re supposed to be that sour. I think they’re more sour than a kumquat because I can eat a kumquat and I can’t eat these things.
I think we’ll try adding some of the juice to our tea instead of lemon and I’d like to try making lemonade with them. They’re quite juicy and I see the trees have a lot of blooms so I need to figure out something that can be done to put them to good use.
Live and learn! Have any of you ever heard of a calamondin orange?

Never heard of it, either!
I think I have seen recipes that call for bitter orange, but on reflection, they might be cocktails. I guess you want to do some research on these!

My mother in law grew calamondins for years. She used to make marmalade from them. Not too sweet, it was delicious.
