Send help! I cannot find my springerle molds. I ordered some new ones last December so I know I had them then. I got all the stuff out yesterday to make them and cannot find them anywhere. I’ve taken everything out of every cabinet. I’ve looked in places I knew they wouldn’t be but . . just in case. Vince and I have searched the area in the shop where I keep my kitchen overflow. I am so sad. That’s the one cookie I was so excited to get to make this year.
I found my rolling pins so I can make these but I really want my molds.
I’m going to spend a little time today looking but I’m not going to give up if I don’t find them soon. Darn it!

On a different subject, do you have a good recipe for madeleines?

OK, this might sound crazy but honest to God it works. I learned this in a workshop I attended years ago when I was still employed:) It has to do with how our brain works – don’t ask me for the particulars – but I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve used this method – never say “I can’t find.” Frame it in the positve – “Where did I put” or When was the last time I used.” You get the idea. I’ve found misplaced keys, yarn, needles, books, etc. When you think in the negative (I can’t find) your basically telling your brain not to find it. Sounds simplistic but give it a try:)

Did you loan tbem to your friend?

On the same note that Karen just mentioned, a Catholic friend of mine told me to ask St. Anthony to find (insert item). I’m Jewish but I thought what the heck, it can’t hurt. The prayer is “Dear St. Anthony, please come around. Something is lost and cannot be found”. Then I would forget about it. In a day or 2 items have shown up. Did you use the new molds yet or still in package? Picture yourself as you opened the mail and looked at them. What were your thoughts? Did you put them down at that point or bring them somewhere? Go back to those moments. Hope you find them soon.

Go back to your blogs from last year. I remember you receiving the new ones. Maybe you made mention of where you stored them.

I hope you will find your molds. At the same time I am hoping I find a precious Christmas quilt I cannot find since moving. I thought I remember unpacking it after moving. We brought my many finished and flimsy tops separately from the moving truck goods. I think I saw it. It’s a pattern I love and fabric I treasured. I just took apart all the Christmas boxes to double check for the hand painted ceramics I couldn’t find at first. Not sure I can do that to the sewing room, I’d never survive till Christmas. I’m lining up for that prayer to St. Anthony.

I am so glad to see that St. Anthony will help me. I have lost my qtr. in foot for my sewing machine and I have lots of sewing still to do. I am sure you will find those molds before Christmas. Think positive!!! 🙂
