Vince has been home sick for the past 2-1/2 days. According to my calculations, that’s about 20 hours this week when I had expected to be home alone and I wasn’t! 🙂
He is feeling somewhat better but if tomorrow was a work day, I think he’d be staying home. It’s Saturday so he gets to stay home and hopefully by Monday, he’ll be good enough to go back to work.
Right after lunch I made a fresh loaf of bread. About the middle of the afternoon, I thought . . Pioneer Woman’s Tomato Soup would be so good tonight with grilled cheese sandwiches made with homemade bread. I knew Vince would be happy with the soup.
The recipe is so easy and so good . . if you haven’t tried it and you love tomato soup, it’s a good one. I had all the ingredients but I had to run out to the greenhouse for basil and parsley.
About half an hour before we were fixing to eat, Vince got a text from a friend that said “We’re on our way over to your house!” WHAT? My house is never acceptable for company unless I’ve had lots of advance notice. Vince and I started frantically picking things up. I needed at least a few hours to get this place presentable but I had about 20 minutes.
We insisted they stay for dinner. They didn’t want to . . We hadn’t planned to come here and eat! We insisted. I told Vince . . how lucky was it for me that I had a loaf of fresh homemade bread and homemade tomato soup? They probably think I cook like that all the time.
I’m so happy we have a quart left over. That’s just the right amount for the two of us to have it again this weekend.
I even had cupcakes from Flour Power Bakery! After we were done eating, I said “Do you want dessert?” They both said no but when I brought out Flour Power cupcakes, she said yes. He still said no.
It always makes me happy when things happen like that .. out of the clear blue I decided to make that yummy soup, then good friends dropped by to enjoy it with us.

Hope Vince is feeling better soon. We have had a nasty virus going around here. Both my husband and my self have had it for two week and still feel rotten. Soup hits the spot when you have the bug.
