It can be so hard sometimes to pick up and start knitting after putting a project away for a while. I was working on my Pearla while at Chad and Nicole’s. I realized I had dropped a stitch and by the time I caught it, it was about 5 rows down. Five rows with about 300+ stitches per row, and beads. I couldn’t fix the lace and my lifeline was about 10 rows back to I tinked back, stitch by stitch to get past the mistake. Well, I started tinking back and then I put it away and said I’d finish it when I got home.
That was a month ago. Yesterday I picked it up, finished ripping back and got to the spot where I needed to start knitting again .. I think. Row 81.
Remember . . Vince is still home . . sick . . today too. I think I have to be in the right mental frame of mind to knit lace and beads and yesterday I was not. I am quite apprehensive about knitting that first row and making sure I am where I think I am and the stitch count works out. I put it aside and picked up an easier project but I’m so close to finishing Pearla. I want to get it done and not have it on my 2018 UFO list.
Hopefully I will be able to get that first row knitted today and that will give me the kick in the pants I need to get it finished . . maybe by the end of the weekend.
This project I had to put down because of the dropped stitch but I would like to become the knitter who finishes one project before starting something else and therefore, nothing would ever sit and hibernate to the point that I can’t figure out where I left off. Hey . . who am I kidding? I’ll never be that kind of knitter.

Yeah I was always kinda jealous of a quilt friend who only bought fabric for the project she was going to work on and worked til it was done and only then would she buy for the next project. Sure wish I would’ve been more like that but too late now :>(

I feel like you are like me, and because you knit different things in different circumstances (for example, car knitting), it would be very stressful to try to only do one project at a time. I’m just hoping that participating in your UFO 2018 will help me get the number a little lower, although I’ll admit I was just thinking of starting something new!

I always tell myself I should take notes while working on something. LOL, I’m lucky if I can understand my row counting tallies and scribbles.

I do the same thing. Even when I do take notes, I’m trying to do it so quickly that if I can read my writing, I’m still not sure what I meant. Knit Companion helps some but I still should do better.

Judy, just keep striving to be that person that finishes a project before starting a new one! I am trying to keep myself in that mindset about my quilting projects because I hate that I have over 75 unfinished quilts! I do not want my knitting numbers to ever reach that number!! So far it is working because I only cast on one sock at a time. I don’t want all my unfinished quilts to end up in the trash or thrift shops— so I’m really trying to finish up quilting UFOs.
