Some time today I may cast on for All Points South. It’s another of my Gift Along projects and I’m sticking with my mantra – Why finish one thing when I can start a new project? It should bother me to admit this but it doesn’t. I’m choosing my yarn based on what’s sitting out needing to be put away so here are my choices:
Choice A is something I had pulled for a fade project.
Choice B is the yarn I had planned to use for a recent mystery knit along that I probably will not make.
I’m leaning towards A for two reasons. First, it’s already wound and ready. How’s that for lazy? Second, I think the middle yarn in B might work great for another DaVinci Cowl. I guess there’s a third reason. A is Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light which is a single ply. I have a ton of it and my love affair with single ply yarn has long faded. It would be nice to get some of it out of my stash.
OK . . Choice A it will be! Glad we were able to make that decision. 🙂

Had to laugh at and love your mantra….I must live by the same mantra with my rug hooking. Right now I have five….yes 5 ….rather large rugs started. My challenge is to finish the one on the frame which I started at camp in June. Have a blessed day. Happy knitting!

“Already wound up” is one of those important criteria I use when trying to decide what yarn to use. Some days I just don’t want to wind any. Plus your first combination is gorgeous.

Works for me! I can relate to your mantra also. Have lots of WIPs everywhere.

I vote for A.

I recently made the All Points South and I’m pretty sure it will be great no matter. I gave it as a gift to my cousin and it was loved even though the color choices were not anywhere near what she initially requested. I just couldn’t make one more thing with Aqua . ?

I had to laugh – I share the same mantra. We’re leaving town for a couple of weeks and I had already packed my knitting projects – far more than I’ll get done – and realized I didn’t have a project to work on in the car. That was an easy fix – I grabbed a wound ball of yarn for another Hitchhiker shawl. In the process I saw the Miss Grace pattern – I want to do that one so bad I can taste it – spent an hour rooting thru yarn – realized I didn’t have time to wind and decided to wait. I know I’ll find a yarn shop where we’re going – I’ll get the yarn and the shop will wind it. How’s that for rationalizing another yarn purchase? LOL

I also like the colors in A. A question for you about single ply yarns. Is A a sock yarn? Are these ok to use for making socks? For some reason I thought socks were done with 2 or 3 ply yarns. What do I know – I’ve only done 12-13 pairs and use yarns that “say -SOCK YARN. lol
