When I was in Missouri, Chad told me that regular mouth pint jars were going to be on sale on Black Friday for $5 for a case of 12. That’s a super deal but I wasn’t about to go anywhere on Black Friday. This morning I was lollygagging and getting ready to fix breakfast, still in my pajamas at about 8:30. Vince said “Do you think you could get dressed quickly and we could run to Walmart and get some jars and be home by Georgia Tech’s kick off at 11? Hmm . . that’s pushing it but I jumped into some clothes, slapped on a bare minimum of makeup and we were in the car heading to town by 8:45. I had my new Electric Pressure Cooker Cookbook with me because I had only had time to glance through it and wanted to get a few ingredients to make a couple of recipes. Vince had mentioned going to Home Depot so I had my knitting too.
We got to Walmart and they only had a couple of cases of jars on the shelf. Nothing on the shelf indicated that the jars were still $5. I think the price showing was something like $9.97. Vince has made friends with the guys in sporting goods so he went over there to get them to scan it to see what the price was. Not only were the regular mouth jars $5 but so were the wide mouth! Vince asked the guy if there were any more, he checked and there were so he went to the back and got more so we left with 10 cases of pint jars. Yay! Vince also found some game cameras that were regular $50, marked down to $24.99 so he got a couple of those.
Next stop . . Home Depot so I sat in the car and made my shopping list.
Then we headed to United where I picked up a few groceries and we grabbed breakfast burritos in their little dining area. I love that I can pick what I want in my burrito. I got barbacoa and potatoes. Vince couldn’t believe I didn’t want eggs. Nope . . if my chickens didn’t lay them, I’ll pass.
Home and groceries brought in out of the car before kick off. Vince will have to take all the jars upstairs later .. I can’t do stairs right now with my knee. So glad to have the jars at that price.
Not only do I use jars for canning but I store my leftovers in them. In the fridge, I can easily see what’s in the jars and they’re easy to clean in the dishwasher. Now I will sit and knit while Vince watches the game.

Those jars were a great deal! Kind of sneaky of Walmart to only have a couple cases on the shelf and no sale price posted. But they can’t sneak one over on sharp-shopper Vince can they?

Now I am mad. I saw the $5 jars today at WM, too, but only the small mouth ones. I don’t need any of those and didn’t see a sign for the wide mouth ones. My WM is too far to go back, so I guess I will just pout, lol. The store wasn’t busy at all and neither was Sam’s Club. Seems Black Friday isn’t such a big deal anymore. I did most of my shopping online, like a lot of others, I guess.

What a deal, Judy! I would feel bad for missing that except that I have a lot of empty jars right now. LOL I do like the pint size the best, and there are never enough wide mouth ones when Stacey does the chicken for both of us. It sounds like that might have been the quickest town trip ever. Maybe you should only go to town with Vince when he has a game to get home to. LOL

When you store your left overs in the fridge in the jars, do you use canning lids? Or do you have those plastic ones that they sell?

Thanks for sharing Judy. I went and got a case today. They only had regular mouth jars at my WM — otherwise I would have gotten a lot more.
On another note; I am noticing air fryers for sale everywhere. Do you still use yours much and do you still like it?

I got my copy of Electric Pressure Cooker Cookbook about a week ago. Its been on my countertop all week too. I have made five meals from it as well as two (delicious) cheesecakes. I think it is a good collection of recipes for beginning pressure cooker users as well as the novice/pros.
