I miss the food from Louisiana. Every time I’m there, I bring back food. Chad loves Hackett’s, which is way south in Lake Charles and always far from everywhere we’re going to be. Hackett’s closes at 3 on Saturday so after my aunt’s memorial service, before we went to the reception, we ran out to Hackett’s and bought boudin and sausage.
I bought mild boudin, crawfish boudin, andoille and rabbit sausage from Hackett’s and then we stopped at Peto’s, which is where I like to get sausage and I got green onion sausage and smoked boudin.
My “cajun food bucket” was almost empty. There’s a bit of andouille and tasso still in there but I piled all the new stuff in and stuck it back in the freezer.
Back in the freezer. If I’m conservative, this stuff will last til I’m back in Louisiana in a couple of months.

And it even has it’s own shelf! HA!! A guy I knew a long time ago was from LA somewhere and always talked about boudin. I’ve never tried it and probably never will (since I really don’t cook much). My son loves Razoo’s but I don’t so that’s probably my barometer on cajun food.

I remember not being able to get this stuff last minute when I wanted it. Glad you were able to stock up.

Judy, could you please explain what all of this stuff is? I know what sausage is but haven’t a clue about boudin or the other stuff.
