As much as I miss the family, it feels good to be home . . in my chair with my feel propped up. About half my bags are unpacked.
Rita was definitely happy to see me. It was sad walking in without being greeted by Speck. I did go out to where he is buried and spent a few minutes. It’s going to take some getting used to . . I miss him but I know he had a good life and it was time.
Vince and I ran to town when I got home, got the car washed, grabbed a bite to eat, bought what we needed for our Thanksgiving meal.
Vince did a good job of taking care of the chickens, the cats, the plants. We actually have 4 baby chicks. They’re so cute but mom is very protective. This evening Vince said “Do you realize all the animals we have now chose us. Speck was the only one we had chosen.” True.
Cat wanted me to pet her but she was too standoffish and I never did get to pet her. She did hiss at me once but I was busy unpacking the car and doing a lot that was out of the ordinary. Maybe tomorrow I can pet her.
Boots, being the sweetheart that he is, was probably the happiest of all the animals to see me.
I’m looking forward to a good night’s sleep in my own bed . . but darn, I miss Addie so much the first few days I’m away from her.

I love when I come home from a trip and get greeted by all the pups. No cats here because of the Dachshunds. (They’d desqueaked it in seconds). I normally get home around midnight from a vacation and have to let them out of their crates and let them jump all over me and smother me in wet kisses. Love it!!!!

Great to have you back. I’m sure it will take time to process the entire trip, but welcome home. I expect Vince was happy to see you, too. =) I laughed when you said you went to town when you got home. Your favorite thing! LOL

I understand about missing your grandchild – whenever I went to visit the grandchildren when they “only” lived six hours away leaving was painful they were baby’s then – now they are teens and live 2 days drive from me (well 2 days for me – 14hours with no stops) and I only see them a couple times a year and one is graduating in June – which means even less visits. Hope you get settled in easy and get a good nights rest in your own bed!
