It doesn’t take being in this town long to realize I could never live in the city limits again. The red tag man has been busy. They are everywhere. Yesterday when I got to town, I went straight to Addie’s day care to pick her up. The house just on the opposite corner from the day care had a red tag so within five minutes of arriving, I saw one. Brought back bad memories for sure.
Red Tag
Within 24 hours of being here, and without driving around much, I’ve seen 7 tags.
I understand the need to keep a town looking decent but having residents live in fear of getting a red tag . . not for me!

we just get a nasty letter in the mail here and they put up a letter on your door too.

We call them the yard police. They are not so bad here now since they fired the yard Nazi!! Will explain when you get back! LOL

No, this is a very poor community. I can think of a couple of neighborhoods that might have an HOA but for the most part, that would be unheard of in this area.

I have a house just catty corner from me that needs a red tag. Every other house on the street is always neatly maintained and then there’s the one eyesore. Usually no less than 6-7 cars parked in driveway, on street and right now (for past several days) a monster truck with gigantic tires, one tire hopped up on curb. Lovely

I agree that there needs to be some form of code enforcement but here, they often take it way beyond reasonable. A lot of people don’t care and it’s the same ones over and over that get the red tags. I think the city eventually cleans it up had charges the homeowner but my guess is most of those bills never get paid and over the years, probably add up to more than some of the homes in this area are worth.

They don’t red tag here, but I have one of THOSE neighbors who reports me for everything from putting my garbage can out too early to having something stored on the side of the house, to long grass. =P I guess he has no life. They just send a letter and tell me I have 7 days to take care of it. I would hate having a red tag!
