We’ve had enough cold nights and frost that the fig tree is shriveling. I’m sad to see it go but my freezer has way too many figs.
Before the hard freeze, I went out and picked all the ripe figs.
I’ve been freezing them in one cup portions . . which is about 10 figs. Two bags will make a cobbler and 1 bag will make fig muffins.
We have enough figs to last us til we start getting them next year. But, the fresh ones are gone. I’ll miss them a lot. There’s hardly a day I don’t walk by and pick at least a few and eat them right off the tree. I love those things!
The tree has produced so many figs this year. I’m so glad we planted it.

A bittersweet time…….excessive warmth giving way to………what’s next………………

Thanks for writing about your garden and trees. I have learned quite a lot. 2 questions please for you and Vince.
1.Do your fig trees need a freeze or prolonged cold weather to produce fruit?
2. Do you have a problem with squirrels eating the fruit. You haven’t really spoken of these furry rodents so how are they with your other fruit trees? Our little devil’s will eat anything the rabbits haven’t.
Thanks for your guidance.
