This rooster is afraid of his own shadow. Seriously, he’s afraid of the bantam hen. I guess I shouldn’t say anything because I’m afraid of her too when she’s sitting on eggs.
I can’t get close enough to get a good picture but he has green, blue and gold feathers and in the sun, he sparkles. We got him in a batch of cuckoo marans chickens but I think he may be a mix of cuckoo and golden marans. He’s definitely pretty.
The Blue Laced Red Wyandotte rooster is also very pretty.
He’s huge! He has to duck down to get out the coop door. We’ve never had a rooster that big.
I have a hard time getting a good picture of him too! Doesn’t seem right that it’s almost always the roosters that are pretty.

That’s the way it is in the avian world–the males get to strut around looking pretty. 🙂 The females have to stay hidden and protect the babies.

I just love pretty chickens. The colors they can have are amazing. I like the photos you send to us too. No two rooster ever look alike do they?
