Thanks for all the suggestions. You all, and your opinions are always very helpful and I appreciate your input. Here’s my thinking . . which changes day to day.
There will be 800 beads used. I actually like the darker beads better and if there were 400 or 500 maybe, I’d go with them, but I’ve seen some shawls where the beads are overpowering. I don’t want it to look like a gaudy, overdecorated dainty shawl. That’s why I keep coming back to the lighter beads.
As far as using a combination and trying to place them in some organized order, this is a mystery so I have no idea how the beads are going to placed until I get to that clue. There are still four more clues, they come close together so I’m thinking we’re going to get small increments of instructions and I’m afraid to try to plan out what the beaded design might be and placing dark beads with the lighter beads might not look so good. If the light beads add just a bit of sparkle and glitz but the dark beads are dark, all you’re going to notice are the dark beads and I think all the light beads would be kinda lost in the design.
Of course, tomorrow, I may wake up with a complete different viewpoint.
Last night I posted on Ravelry about running short on beads and when I checked my responses, several had found more of the light beads at various bead suppliers so I have more of those on their way here.
I do think either light or dark beads would be pretty and it may all come down to which beads get here first.
