Today was a trip to Abilene to get treatment for two of our family of rapidly becoming feeble folks. I had to see the knee doctor and Rita had to see the vet.
Rita’s pressure was too low. Go figure! I didn’t even know it could be too low. I was aiming for zero but no . . 8 – 10 in both eyes was too low. They want it between 14 and 20. They sent her home with pain meds because apparently being too low is as painful as being too high. Meds were changed . . well, just the instructions were changed. One drop we use once a day instead of twice a day. The other drop remains the same – 3 times a day. My life seems to revolve around being home and awake at 7 a.m., 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. so I can put drops in Rita’s eyes. Rita is one of those dogs who has to have her glands expressed so we had them do that. They scrubbed her hind end twice and it was still a bit smelly in the car with her for the almost 2 hour trip back home.
The knee doctor was happy that my knee is doing better but I still got another injection. I don’t have to go back til January unless it gets worse. The injections really help but the first 24 hours after getting them are pretty painful. Vince took off and went with me so he could drive and help deal with Rita. We dropped her off at the vet as we got to Abilene, went to the doctor, ate at Olive Garden, and I remember why I haven’t eaten there in about 8 years! I went to JoAnn’s to try to get buttons for Addie’s striped sweater . . no luck. I guess when I was a teen and young adult, sewing was more popular because House of Fabric and our local Hancock’s had walls and walls of buttons. There are so few buttons in the stores these days.
After that, my knee was hurting so we went back by the vet, met with the vet, got Rita and came home. It’s a full day, even without going to all our usual shopping spots in Abilene.
I hadn’t taken food for Rita because she sometimes, mostly always, gets sick in the car if she eats. Speck had been home alone with no bathroom trips and no food so it was good to get home before 5.
Once the chickens are fed and watered, eggs gathered, I’ll either sit in my chair the rest of the evening and knit or I’ll go to bed! I’m betting sitting and knitting wins!

Hope your knee feels better in the morning. Just curious — what did you have at Olive Garden? Last time I ate there I stuffed myself with the bread before my dinner arrived! Could hardly walk out of there!

I ate at Olive Garden just yesterday, and it was fine. Of course, you may have higher standards, comparing it to your home cooking! 😉
