Earlier this week, Vince said “Do we have any more yellow Dial soap?” Of course . . we have a backup supply of everything. I said “Sure. Do you need it now?” There area a few things that I keep well stocked – toilet paper, paper towels, bath soap, shampoo – things that I only buy when it’s on sale and depending on the deal, I may get a few or a lot. Soap . . I have a lot of soap. I keep a few individual packages on my bathroom cabinet and the bulk of it is the top of an extra bedroom closet. I have to use a step stool to reach it and I had to get up there the other day to get a container of baby powder. Any time I get up there, I kinda mentally inventory my “stash”.
I was getting up to go get his soap and he said “You don’t have to get it now. I just opened a new bar but it was my last bar.” Not long later, he said “I ordered some soap. It will be here before this bar runs out.” OK.
Yesterday I was tracking another package that was coming Fed Ex (yarn!) and I said “My package must be at the gate because Fed Ex says it’s delivered. I’m going to run down there and check.” He said “I’ll go too because my soap is supposed to be delivered today.”
It’s a good thing he went because it was a big box and it was heavy. Not counting packaging, it was 33 pounds of just soap. Sitting on the ground, I’m not sure I could have picked it up easily.
It was 41¢ per bar without shipping and 49¢ per bar with shipping. Many years ago when I first began buying in bulk when I would find things on sale, I would only buy Dial soap when I could get it for less than 50¢ per bar. That price is hard to find these days for a 4 oz. bar so he did good . . but that’s a heck of a lot of soap.
Vince says a bar of soap lasts him a week. It lasts me much longer but I use some body wash, and something different on my face. I’d say we have at least three years worth of Dial soap around here now. Thinking about it . . he’ll be retired by the time we run out of Dial soap.
I’m not saying anything about his soap purchase. I had yarn that arrived yesterday and we all know I have enough yarn to last way past when we need to buy soap again! I just thought it was funny that he went from asking for one bar of soap to ordering 132 bars of soap.

HaHaHaHa!!! Love it! My hubby would never do that because he doesn’t like shopping, but I couldn’t imagine ever buying 100+ bars of soap all at once, even if it WAS a good deal!!! 🙂

Does he use Amazon or other places? Just wondering where Vince shops…HA!
Judy Laquidara says
He uses any place that has the best deal. Amazon is rarely the best deal on anything these days. He ordered the soap from Sam’s Club.

REALLY?!! Dang! Gonna hafta start branching out while browsing!

LOL that is FUNNY! Today my Dh was routeing around in the basement, he brought up a packgae of 9 rolls of toilet paper. UH honey there is a case in theBathroom closet….. just saying.
Judy Laquidara says
Toilet paper is one thing I definitely don’t want to run short on. I pretty much always have 6 cases of toilet paper and 6 cases of paper towels but I only buy them when I find it on sale.

LOL, and you already had some on the shelf, so you are really set to be clean now, whatever else happens.
Jean says
If mice in your area like soap as well as the mice around us you might want to store the soap in with Boots.
Judy Laquidara says
Knock on wood . . I’ve never had a mouse problem in the house. Upstairs in the shop, they run rampant. I’m only able to store things that are totally mouse proof. Even with Cat spending lots of time in there, the mice rule!
