Miss Rita

Rita has to be the most cooperative dog ever. I was telling my eye doctor, who is friends with Vince, that he should thank me because Vince wanted to call him to check the pressure in Rita’s eyes and I wouldn’t let him call. He asked me how cooperative she is with us having to put all the drops in her eyes and I told him .. she’s SO cooperative! She hears me when I get the drops and unscrew the lid and she will roll over on her back to get in position for the drops to be dispensed into her eyes. Every day I’m sorry this happened to her but am so thankful that she’s so cooperative. If it had been Speck, there’s no way we could do it. Seriously, he’s never been cooperative and even as a young dog, we could not have done to him what we’re able to do to Rita.

Rita

As cooperative as she is, she’s at the other end of the spectrum on being snuggly. She will not let us hold her. She will not sit close to us. When I pick her up, the closest I can carry her is a leg’s length away because she’s pushing away with her leg. She never growls or snaps but she does not like to be held.

Vince went back to work after lunch and just when I was thinking I’d go take a nap, she hopped up in my chair. No way am I putting her down. I get so little close time with her. This is as close as it gets and I’m sitting here as long as she will stay by me.
