This is definitely under the heading of “Worthless Chatter” but the first Orb Weaver is gone! Her web is gone. She is gone. No sign of foul play . . just gone! It was just yesterday I took her picture. Maybe she didn’t like the idea of being seen by blog readers. Maybe she’s in the witness protection program and I blew it for her! I’m sad.
This morning I went to let the chickens out. My routine:
Cat is sitting in the driveway waiting for me. I say “Good Morning, Cat!” She comes over and I pet her for a minute.
Then I pass by the faucet and turn on the water to the big fig tree.
Then I go to the coop in the orchard and let the chickens out and talk to them as they’re exiting the coop. Then I walk by the spider and say “Good Morning, Spider!” Wait . . there was no spider. She was gone!
Then I go to the second coop and talk to those chickens as they’re exiting the coop.
Then I go feed Cat and go to the sewing room and play with Boots for half an hour or so.
Then I go turn off the faucet, go inside, take a shower and get started with my day.
After Vince goes back to work, I go outside, check for eggs, refresh the chickens’ water, then go knit with Boots for a couple of hours. Don’t tell anyone but some days Boots and I take a nap! It’s so nice and quiet and cool in the sewing room.
Anyway, I’ve worried about that goofy spider all day. The web was hanging from the roof of the coop so isn’t like something could have brushed into the web and knocked her down . . unless we have a giraffe!
The other spider is still there but she’s not talking so . . it’s a mystery that will probably forever remain unsolved.

I was reading that they build a new web often and eat the old one before making the new one. Maybe she was stuffed from eating the old web and needed a break! LOL

Oh, I didn’t know that. Maybe that’s what happened. I’ll have to look around and see if I can find her nearby. Thanks. It’s crazy that I was worried about a spider.
