Socks will probably always be my favorite thing to knit. I love making plain vanilla socks, probably because I feel like I’m creating but not having to pay much attention at all. Every time I pick up a pair of socks to knit, especially after having worked on other projects, I sigh and think to myself . . I love knitting socks.
Having said that .. why did I start these socks on October, 2016 and not finish them til yesterday? I don’t know but if I had to come up with an answer, I think it’s because I feel like I can always knit on socks. They’re good for in the car knitting, good for sitting and chatting knitting, good for when you only have a few minutes to knit and don’t want to have to find your place in the pattern . . so I tend to always put them off til that time when I can’t really knit anything else. In the evenings when sitting with Vince, I’m usually working on a sweater and in the mornings when he’s gone to work, that’s what was left out from the night before and I remember where I was last working so it’s easy to pick it up.
The yarn is Western Sky Knits’ Magnolia Sock and the color is Choco Rainbow. The yarn has 10% cashmere so it feel good. The color is amazing. I love pooling (where the colors kinda pile up instead of striping). The sock on the right has more striping and less pooling so I added an extra two stitches to the foot of the second sock. A good, precise knitter wouldn’t do that but . . what’s two stitches when it gives me good pooling?
I love the eye of the partridge heel when the yarn is variegated enough that the stitches show nicely. This heel looks nice in solid colors too but in some variegated yarns, it gets a bit lost.
I like the fit of the Double Gusset Heel, which doesn’t show up quite as well with the variegated yarn but it is a good fitting heel and can be used in any pattern (and the instructions are free).
There are several pairs of socks that I’ve had on the needles for too long . . probably half a dozen pairs. I’m feeling the urge to finish up some projects and have pulled a few of those socks out to try to work on a little each day so hopefully you’ll see more finished socks soon.

It does seem like a very long time since we’ve seen socks!
