When Chad, Nicole and Addie were here the end of July and into the first week in August, I had bought some things for Addie to play with. Maybe I bought too much or they weren’t here long enough but some of the things she never opened.
Yesterday Nicole called and said “Addie has a question for you.” OK.
Addie: Granny, do you remember that PAW Patrol game?
Me: Yes.
Addie: I can play with it now. I’m 5.
Huh? I didn’t tell her she couldn’t play with it because she wasn’t 5 yet. Her birthday was about a week after they were here and she turned 5. There was one art set she found that I had put up and it was for ages 8 and up and I wouldn’t let her have that.
Then . .
Addie: I want it now.
Me: Well, come down here and I’ll give it to you when you get here.
After a bit of conferring with Nicole, she decided that wouldn’t work.
Addie: Granny, can you bring it to me now?
Me: No, but I’ll take it to the post office tomorrow and you’ll have it in a few days.
Addie: NO! I want it now.
Me: Well, you don’t always get what you want.
With that, she went storming off to her room and I heard the door slam. I tried to see if Walmart.com had the cards and then I’d just send them there, or if Amazon has them but they don’t have the exact same thing and I’m betting her little photographic memory remembers exactly what the cards are that I have here so . . tomorrow, I go to the post office and mail her cards.

Oh funny. If you print postage online and schedule a free pickup….you won’t have to go to town.

I use flat rate priority mail boxes and I print the postage but I can’t put boxes in my mail box so I have to call the mail lady to call me when she gets close, which means I have to stick around the house to wait for the phone to ring so it’s usually easier to run to town and mail the package. I actually have to go to the eye doctor tomorrow so I’ll run it by the post office while I’m in town.

Yep this only the beginning trust me. My dgd is now 19 and it seems just like yesterday when she still took naps with me. I miss those days. But it only gets worst with age. But enjoy them now they grow up so fast these days.

Enjoy them while you can .. They grow up, get married and move away… Then texting becomes the next best thing.

It’s amazing that she’s already 5 so I know it won’t be long til she’s 10 and then 15 and then grown!
