Will my two top right (#2 and #3) far back teeth ever be right? I’m beginning to believe the answer is no.
It was a year ago this past March or April when I had new crowns (replacement crowns) on those two teeth. I suppose the dentist saw something on x-rays because they weren’t bothering me. Oh, how I wish I had never had those two crowns replaced. I never could chew on that side after that . . still can’t. #3 became horribly cold sensitive. I couldn’t drink anything cold. I couldn’t even walk outside with my mouth closed (you know how hard that was!) without that side hurting. I wasn’t getting any satisfaction from the dentist so I changed dentists. I had trouble finding a dentist here so someone recommended a dentist in Abilene. I went to her and she said I needed a root canal on #3. A week or so later, I got a call from the dentist I’d been trying to see here so I went to see him. He said I needed a root canal on #3 and sent me to an endodontist in San Angelo. He said I needed a root canal on #2 and it looked worse to him than #3 but I told him #3 was killing so he did the root canal on #3 and a couple of weeks later did a root canal on #2. The cold sensitivity was resolved but I still couldn’t chew on those two teeth. #3 seemed worse but the dentist thinks #2 is worse. I dealt with that from January to June and the endodontist said he didn’t have a clue what was wrong but he would go back in and re-do the root canal to make sure there wasn’t anything he missed.
Two root canals on the same day. Not recommended!
Three months later, I still can’t chew and one or both hurt to touch. Brushing hurts. Forget flossing back there.
Yesterday I went back to the local dentist. I adjusted the “bite” . . ground down a high spot, so we’ll see what happens. My regular scheduled appointment is next month. This has gone on long enough. I keep thinking . . one more “something” and they’ll be right. I hate to pull two teeth but that’s about where I am with these two. I’m tired of the pain but I’m also tired of trying to get in to see the dentist. So many of the dentists here don’t even work four full days a week so getting an appointment is about as painful as the teeth.
I think my teeth are making me grumpy.

I like my dentist—-BUT he works Mon, Tues, Wed, and every other Friday. That’s it. It’s so hard to get appointments! If your dentist does the same, it sounds like it must be a common practice to work on limited days.

I went thru almost the exact same thing and grinding down a high spot finally did the trick for me so hope it does the same for you.

MAN! All that’d be making me grumpy, too!! Sure hope it all gets taken care of once and for all soon!!

Being prone to dental issues, I sympathize with you! If I still had a guest bedroom, I’d invite you up to see my dentist. He’s the best I’ve had in a lifetime of good dentists! He never stops until things are right to me. He’s an older man, but he’s so good. I hope one of your dentists will be able to solve this problem without pulling your teeth, but sometimes that’s the only way out of a situation. A partial is not cheap, but it is also not painful! And adding teeth to it as time goes on, is not very expensive.

I think dentists here only work 3 or 4 days a week too.. Mine only see patients 7 to noon!!

So sorry you’re having such trouble! I finally had a back tooth out earlier this year, after 15 years of pain and sensitivity off and on. Really had no choice by the time it was done, as it was cracked and massively infected. Much trouble to go through, but great not to be in pain anymore!

There’s nothing like tooth pain to wear you down and make you grumpy. If you can’t chew on that side anyway, those teeth might as well come out. You still won’t be able to chew on that side, but at least the pain would be gone. Good luck!

Well I understand your pain sort of. I had those same teeth pulled back in February. I have never regretted it one day. I had had them worked on several times and was tired of spending money on them. So I had them taken out( was going to Scotland and din’t want any problems while gone). I have no problem chewing on that side with the teeth I have left. I hate the dentist so when I have teeth worked on 3 times they go. My mom did without jaw teeth and my mother in law did just fine without any teeth at all. Neither one stopped eating what they like. So good enough for them good enough for me. And no I don’t want bridges (more money)or implants. .Our cleaning ladies said implants are the worst and give everyone problems. So toothless I might become but I don’t want pain or lost of more good money. So think hard is all this worth not using them anyways? You need a good dentist and so far doesn’t sound like you have found a good one. The dentist I use I never hurts and I don’t afterwards either and it takes him about 45 minutes to pull one of my teeth.I have had 2 day in an afternoon and good to go afterwards.

I hate tooth pain! I broke a tooth a couple of weeks ago. When I was leaving after they filled the spot, there was someone trying to schedule a filling. They were told that the first available appointment wasn’t until December. I was shocked, since they fit me in within a week. I guess I really lucked out!
