Tomorrow is the first clue for “What the Fade“. I’m still struggling with my color choices. This was the original picture of my yarn.
When I wound the yarn into cakes, I was disappointed to see that the two browns were too blendy.
I did a little more digging and came up with a couple more options but when I look at the original yarns from this angle, they don’t look too blendy.
I don’t want to use those two and then wish I hadn’t. There are two more options that I can use.
The above photo shows just swapping out the darkest brown for a darker brown.
The above photo shows also swapping out one of the blue . . trying to keep the values of the two colorways similar. Right now, I’m leaning toward this last option.
The first clue was released last night right before I went to bed. Nope, not looking at it til Veronika is finished!

I would combine twist light and sock if the colors work.

What is the most you can wind in a yarn ball using the winder?……just depends?
JudyL says
Yes, it all depends on the weight of the yarn per yard. 4 oz. of lace weight can be more than 1,000 yards which creates an average but quite fragile cake. Some bulky yarns may be 70 yards per 4 oz. and they create a HUGE cake.
It also depends on the winder. Some of the less expensive winders cannot handle larger cakes.
Diana Edwards says
Just google to see how many ounces about 2-3.4 ozes. on a cake (ball) Thanks
