We’re having cool nights and not so hot days and I’m absolutely loving it!
Yesterday morning I walked out to let the chickens out and feed Cat and I honestly stopped and had to think . . are we still in August? There was a breeze blowing and if I had been going to stay out long, I would have gone back and put on a sweater.
It was about 8 a.m. before I went out with Rita and Speck and by then, it had warmed up a few degrees and the breeze had stopped blowing. Mid-60’s at 8 in the morning in August . . we’ll take it and be happy to have it. It makes a difference in the entire day when I’m not met with a blast of hot air when I open the door just as it’s beginning to get daylight.
Our highs for the next week or so are mostly in the upper 80’s. There are a few days through mid-September that we’ll have highs in the low 90’s but mostly it’s the upper 80’s. The temps have not been horrible this summer. Sure, we had many days over 110°, but not as many as we usually have. It was mid-August when we moved here in 2011 and I thought summer would never end. Seems like it was hot and dry through October.
Maybe the hot summers make us appreciate the cooler temps of fall and it doesn’t hurt that we know our winters aren’t going to be horribly cold. Now that summer is almost over, I can say . . it wasn’t too bad this year.

We have had a nice summer here in TN. No days over 95.

Seems like along the Coast, summer isn’t over until the end of October. It was very nice outside this morning though! Winds still blowing about 30 mph.

After several weeks of lovely, temperate, *below-average* temperatures, summer is wholly back in southern California, and expected to stay around for a while! It really puts us out of sync with the rest of the country. (I’m still thinking summer clothes, but know fall clothes will be on sale this weekend.)

That’s probably what will happen here too . . we’ll have more heat but at least we’ve been given a little break.
