First . . I should probably give the appropriate warnings: Don’t drink and drive; drink responsibly, hide this from your children!
I’m not much of a drinker and I’ve always said that when I found a drink that tasted like Dr. Pepper, I would drink alcohol.
Well, thanks to a quilting friend who kept talking about how good her root beer floats so I had to go out and find Buffalo Trace’s Bourbon Cream.
Simply place a rootbeer in the freezer til it just starts getting icy. Pour rootbeer into a glass, add however much bourbon cream you’d like. I don’t even measure .. I just pour but I don’t pour a lot. Stir it up and it’s about the best tasting rootbeer float ever!
You can use any root beer you like. There are some vast differences in root beer. I like the sweeter root beers – A&W, IBC or Frostie. The bourbon cream is so smooth.
If you make these, let me know what you think.

Oh boy now I need to go to the liquor store and the market see ya!
Clara says
Could you put that bourbon cream into a Dr. Pepper for a Dr. Pepper float?
JudyL says
Of course! I tried it over the weekend and a root beer float is my preference, even without alcohol but try it however you like it.
Ellen says
Mix it with “Not Your Father’s Root Beer”. It’s called a “Dirty Girl”. Invented in a small town bar in Montana 🙂
JudyL says
Don’t think I would pay $10 – $12 for a six pack of Not Your Father’s Root Beer and then add the bourbon cream. To me, the Not Your Father’s Root Beer isn’t nearly as smooth as is the regular root beer with the added bourbon cream but . . it’s up to everyone what they like.
Sherrill says
Oh good grief Judy..now I’m going to have to try this! You are truly a bad influence!! 🙂
Ava Crotinger says
Of course we have to try it if Judy recommends it.
I had Irish Cream coffee a couple of years ago and it was so good I had to Not buy it any more. It’s deceptively delicious and you forget you’re drinking an adult beverage.
Bernice Ramsey says
This is the best. They gave it to us a Buffalo Trace.
Sue B says
Bet it would be great with a little ice cream in it.

First quilting, then knitting, gardening, chickens and the Cat, now drinks. This
is why I am here.
Robin says
Yep, youre a bad influence! I already spotted a recipe for a low cal moscow Mule the other day and went out and bought the diet ginger beer for that now I’m going on the lookout for bourbon creme!
