I’m definitely not criticizing the weather men . . I’d hate to be in charge of predicting the weather. They do get it right often enough that I still count on them an dread the forecast at least once a day.
Remember last week when I was so excited that there were no 100+ days in our forecast. This was Sunday.
Yesterday I had to go to Abilene. I had not seen the doctor since having the MRI on my knee. I put it off til yesterday because I didn’t want to miss any time with Chad, Nicole and Addie. Vince wanted me to cancel the appointment and reschedule because massive amounts of rain, wind and hail were predicted for yesterday. He was going to go with me and then his plans changed. Once he knew I was going by myself, he really wanted me to cancel but I needed relief on the knee pain so I went.
There are a couple of low water crossings and if there’s a huge amount of rain, parts of the highway can close so I packed a little bag . . undies, toothbrush, a bit of makeup, and Vicks VapoRub (even though a jar stays in my car and in my purse . . I need one in my overnight bag too!).
When I left the house, there were dusty cat paw prints all over my windshield. I figured it would rain soon enough and I could use the wipers to clean the windshield. I didn’t want to use the windshield washers and get muddy water all over my car.
I left .. I drove towards Abilene. Clear skies. Once when I was almost to Abilene, the sky got a bit dark and a couple of drops fell. Not even enough to use the windshield wipers. Got to the doctor, skies were still clear. After the doctor, stopped at Sam’s. Left Sam’s. Skies were still clear. Drove all the way home. Not a drop of rain. The skies looked a little dark once I got home so I hurried and unpacked the car. Nope . . sun came out. Not a drop of rain.
I’m betting some places got rain so the weatherman probably was right . . I just didn’t happen to get in any of it.
Sunday night we got one inch of rain. Right at bed time, the thunder started. Rita was a mess. Vince took one of her beds into the bedroom and put it on his side of the bed. That’s where she likes to go. I stayed up a while and was trying to stay up with her til the storms passed so Vince could sleep, but since I had to drive to Abilene, I wanted to get some sleep too. When I started to go to bed, Rita was right on my heels so I thought . . I’ll sleep in the other room and she can sleep by my bed and not wake Vince. Once I go to sleep, I won’t hear her. She decided she wanted to get in the bed .. not happening.
Finally, I got up, Rita ran into the bedroom and woke Vince up . . I went to sleep and never heard anything. Vince said she woke him up a couple of times.
We’re so appreciative of every drop of rain that falls around here . . not so appreciative of the thunder since Rita panics, although I love a good thunderstorm . . without tornadoes.

I heard San Antonio got 5 inches of rain! It all depends on where it goes.

Yep, I saw that on the news. Glad I didn’t cancel my trip based on the weather forecast but I’m very glad I wasn’t going to the doctor in San Antonio.

Your high temps would make me melt! Here in Ohio we have mid 90 temps in the summer and so much humidity that you feel just icky! I’m wondering what you use your Vicks VapoRub for. I use it every night on my lips, so I’m interested in why you keep one with you at all times.
Hope your doctor appointment unveiled why your knee is giving you so much trouble and you can get some relief.
(And, I hope that when your readers see my comment they realize I’m not the Helen that gives you grief sometimes!)

We didn’t get hardly anything either (a few drops) but my son who’s south of 20 got a TON! It looks a little rainy here this morning but doubt we’ll get anything. But we HAVEN’T had any 100 days in quite awhile. Sure would be nice this early in Aug. to think of no more 100’s but doubt that’ll happen. So how’s the knee?

We got about 6-8 inches here in Houston. the streets are flooded around my house. Glad I don’t have to go anywhere this morning.

Reading from Winston-Salem, NC (home of Vick’s Vapoub), another nightly user of Vick’s for my lips. Glad to see that that there are more users. My TX son in law hates the smell of it, I love it.
