We’ve lived here six years and we’ve avoided going to Austin because we like nothing about cities . . least of all, the traffic. Yesterday we had to be adults and drive to Austin to take Rita to the vet. Vince put the address for the vet into the GPS and we got there just fine. He never messes with the GPS so I was surprised he did it himself instead of asking me to do it. He did great.
We saw the vet (another blog post) and when it was time to leave, Vince was getting everything arranged in the car and I took Rita for a walk. Rita and I got back in the car and we started home. I asked Vince if I needed to put our address into the GPS and he said he had already done it. Good job, Vince!
After driving for a while, Vince kept saying “This doesn’t seem right!” I have no sense of direction so I kept my mouth shut. We got on this interstate and that interstate and after a while, the GPS said “Drive 120 miles to Dallas.” Dallas? We don’t need to go to Dallas to get home.
Me: Vince! GPS is taking us to Dallas to get home. That’s not right.
Vince: No . . that is not right!
Me: Are you sure you put the right address in?
Vince: I didn’t put an address. I just hit “Home”.
I should have kept my mouth shut. “Home” on our GPS is our old house in Nevada, MO.
He was not happy with me! “How am I supposed to know HOME is not HOME?” Well, in my defense (1) I’ve read that you should never have your real address as “home” on your GPS and (2) I can just hit “home” when I’m going to MO to see Chad and it gets me there.
A few turns, a few extra miles and we made it to our real home.
