The first 3-D printer arrived yesterday. It’s sitting on our dining room table. That is not a good thing! He promises it isn’t going to stay there and one way or another, he’s correct!
He made a little boat.
He hasn’t “cleaned” it up yet to get the fuzzies off.
He started making a butterfly. I was outside working and came in about 8:30 p.m. and it said it still had 6 hours and 48 minutes left before the butterfly was done. That was going to be a late night of printing!
But it somehow got its act together and finished within about an hour. Maybe when I looked, it was still calculating but there’s a huge difference in one hour and almost seven hours. Kinda sounds like what happens to me when I say “I’ll just knit one more row and then I’ll get up and do laundry!” and 5 hours later, I’m still sitting and knitting.
I tried getting a picture of the butterfly being printed. You can kinda see the outline of a butterfly.
And, there it is! I think I had the wrong side facing up but I didn’t realize the other side has a design.
Tonight I think he may try to make me some little round stitch markers for my knitting. It seems like it’s going to be a fun thing. Last night he said “I’ll bet you’re wishing you would have bought yourself a 3-D printer instead of the Cricut!” I wasn’t thinking that but I do think that 3-D printer is a fun toy.

Oh, good! That’s one more toy I don’t want! However, that printer should be great fun for Vince (and you, if he lets you play with it!).

I have a huge fabric stash and find it’s easier to buy new when I’m starting a new project – yet that defeats the purpose of having a stash. Right now Vince has to go to work so while he’s away, you can play with his new toy. If that down’t work, try “I wonder if it could make…” and shee if Vince makes it for you. Heard on the news today that all the rain we got in CA earlier this year is good for the snakes so they anticipate that in a few months we’ll have lots of baby ones. I like the rain but not those crawly things.

My husband went with our 13-year-old grandson as he took a programming class at our local Library last fall, and now while visiting, printed out a “fidget spinner” that he had designed. Then he came home and designed a second one, then got it printed. Grandpa provided the bearings for the spinners. They seemed to really enjoy the activity, but had to go back twice to print the second design, because the hours on Wednesday were already committed. Vince will have an advantage at home!
