Last night my dad called.
Dad: Do you remember that little gizmo you bought me about 12 years ago?
Me: Not really.
Dad: It plays music!
Me: Tell me more.
Dad: It’s a little stick. I found it in my drawer. It was still in the box but there were no instructions.
Me: Oh! I think that’s an iPod Shuffle.
Dad: I put it in my truck and it plays a whole bunch of old country music. Then I thought . . if it plays in my truck, it will probably play in your mom’s SUV so I plugged it in there and it played in there too.
Heck, I have one too. I used mine a lot and thought Dad would like one so I got him one and loaded it up with a bunch of music he helped me choose.
I have no idea how long ago that was but Amazon first started selling them in 2005 so I suppose Dad was pretty close with his “12 years ago” statement.
He was pretty excited to have found it and have it still work.
Don’t ask me where I put something yesterday but I went right to that old iPod that I haven’t used in probably 10 years. I still have my oldest full size iPod in my car that I bought when Chad was still in high school when I bought one for all three of us. Mine and Vince still use ours. Chad used the heck out of his and it eventually quit working and I’m sure he tossed it. He’s been out of school 11 years so those things must be 14 years old. Those were good investments!

Isn’t it funny that we still like so many of those things? My son still uses his ages-old iPod, too. I’m still using my Gen 2 Kindle from about 2010, and as long as it keeps working, I can’t think of a single reason to change!
