Sometimes I wish I liked going out to eat. I don’t mind if we go somewhere that’s outstanding, but around here, outstanding is not easy to find. I suppose outstanding is relative. If Armenta’s in San Angelo was closer, I’d probably eat there every single day because (1) I love good Mexican food and (2) Armenta’s is the best I’ve ever had. There’s a fairly new restaurant in Comanche that we’ve been wanting to try but we haven’t been there yet.
A couple of weeks ago someone told Vince about a new restaurant in Brady and we went there yesterday. It was ok. I had a burger which had some kind of raspberry chipotle sauce on it. I would get it again. I would go back there to meet friends that we sometimes meet in Brady but I doubt I’d go back over there just for us to eat out.
Today for lunch we had Butter/Garlic Shrimp over angel hair pasta and fresh beans from the garden. That’s the kind of food I think is amazing! Vince said “The food yesterday at the restaurant was good but not nearly as good as we eat at home every day.” I said “You’re welcome!”
It’s true .. maybe with the exception of Armenta’s in San Angelo, there’s no place I’d rather eat than at home. I suppose it’s easy since I only fix things I like. Poor Vince . . I do not like red sauce (pizza, marinara) and he loves those things. I say (to myself) . . dude, lots of men cook! He’s pretty happy to open a jar of Ragu. I wouldn’t do that but if he wants it, I’ll gladly fix myself eggs, bacon and toast and he can have all the spaghetti sauce he wants!
Of all the things I love to do . . garden, sew, knit, cook . . I’m most thankful that I love to cook.

I don’t like to cook–never have. I don’t like what I cook therefore I don’t (anymore). I used to cook occasionally but it just got to be easier to go out so everyone could pick what they wanted. Poor Frank like meatloaf (DOG FOOD!), liver (just YUCK) and a few others things so Luby’s was a place he could usually get one of those. Everything I eat is carry out or dine in (the restaurant). Don’t like to clean much either..HA! I’d just rather sew.

Your meals always look amazing! We eat at home 99% of the time, it’s easier on our budget and I know what we are eating and how it was fixed.

I wish I enjoyed cooking like I used to. But after 40 years of marriage to a really picky eater, it has taken the fun out of it. Meat and potatoes, and NO seasoning beyond salt and a little pepper – boring, boring, boring. But I do still enjoy reading cook books, cooking blogs, and watching cooking shows.

I’m sorry. The fact that you enjoy reading books, blocks and watching cooking shows tells me that you really do enjoy cooking. I doubt I would ever cook much if it were just me. Part of my joy of cooking is that, together Vince and I enjoy my different concoctions.

I wish I liked to cook. It doesn’t really seem worth the effort for just me, and I’m tired when I get home so that doesn’t help. I do things that are fast and easy. Your meals look so good, (except for the beans–I don’t care for most beans…My father always accused me of not really being his daughter because he loved all beans.) 🙂

It’s great that Vince appreciates the effort you put into meals and compliments you on the food. The closest I’ve ever come to a compliment on a meal is if I ask the hubby how it was and he replies, “It’s edible.” So mostly I make what I like and he can eat it or not.

I don’t like cooking, but I hate eating out! My husband loves to cook, but I’m happy with a sandwich or soup or something simple–I’m an eat-to-live, not a live-to-eat type. 🙂

May husband doesn’t like most things other than Mexican food. He could eat Del Taco and Taco Bell every day. I prefer better quality and healthier type foods so it is hard to cook at home. We go out a lot but I am getting real tired of it and have started to cook at home. There have been times I’ve prepared a separate meal for my husband but now I’m beginning to say if you don’t want what I am making, you can go get something for yourself. He is beginning to eat what I make but he never smiles! Oh well.

Judy, I am just wondering how you learned to cook? I don’t like to cook but might be mainly because I really don’t have good cooking skills. Any advice?

I stopped cooking when My husband’s mother started in on my cooking and how my husband hated it .. So OKAY, you -hubs-cook … Problem is I love to cook, so 2 nights a week he cooks for us and then I cook for me when he’s over the road. He makes breakfast and I eat usually leftovers for lunch.

I don’t eat any food that has a Mother, dietary allergy problem. My husband learned to cook because he loves a steak and cheese. Who says an old dog can’t learn new tricks.

See, now I have a reason to choose San Angelo if I move to Texas. =) It’s about as cheap as Knoxville – maybe cheaper since the economy picked up here.
