Bloom where you’re planted has been a motto I’ve tried to live by and it’s been easy to be happy where I’m living until Addie came along and there’s 10 hours between us!
Sometimes I need to take my own advice.
As I walked outside to put the chickens up, I looked down and found this plant blooming. I stopped and I thought . .
- It’s growing in the middle of the rock driveway and it came up volunteer and managed to survive.
- It gets no water. We go months without rain and I haven’t watered it.
- No one cares that it’s there. No one cares if it would rather be growing somewhere else.
Considering all the stumbling blocks that plant is facing, it’s just as pretty as if it were growing in a flower bed getting lots of pampering.
Seeing that plant blooming there was a lesson I needed!

That’s a nice thought to end the day on. (That flower wasn’t even planted!)

Thanks Judy. I’ve been struggling living in my new location for the past year. This is great inspiration and reminder to me that it is up to me to “bloom where I’m now planted”.

In this age of Skype, FaceTime and easy phone calls a 10 hour distance is not that far. You have made wonderful memories with Addie and as she gets older she will be able to travel to you more often. Blossom often where you are! Thanks for sharing.

I’d love to see a whole flower bed of those. It’s so pretty! I find that wildflowers are often my favorite plants, for exactly the reasons you mention. Dandelions are a favorite of mine, much to my neighbors’ disgust. =) That is a good analogy to draw. thx

Sometimes .. Mother Nature just reminds us to look around and be grateful, thankful, she has an odd habit of that one.
