Vince comes home pretty much every day for lunch. He’s really good about letting me know when he’s going to be late or not come home at all so I don’t get lunch ready and have him not show up.
Yesterday there was some question about whether he was going to be coming home for lunch. He had a meeting that was going to last til noon but he decided he would be home but it would be about 12:15 instead of the usual 11:15. That was great because I had picked some of the borlotto beans that he loves and had to get them shelled and cooked.
Got those shelled and cooked, cooked some fresh squash and heated up some smoked brisket. I was thinking what a lucky man he was to be coming home to such fresh veggies for lunch.
He walked in, right on time, and said “Did you see my messages?” No! He almost decided not to come home!
I totally had not seen any of those messages. I’m in and out and don’t keep my phone on me. It would have been totally my fault if he had not been coming home and I had not seen the messages and cooked. It wouldn’t have been a big deal. We would have just had it all for dinner.
It was a great lunch. I’m glad he didn’t miss it. Today he isn’t coming home for lunch so my plan is to do a little work in the garden and sit and knit! I’ll heat up some leftovers for my lunch and not waste any time cooking or having a mess to clean up.

With the snakes crawling I am surprised you don’t carry your phone in a holder. Be safe!

Judy, I now never leave the house without my phone. I fell, slid down a small embankment a few weeks ago, and was so glad to have my phone in my pant pocket so I could call Bill to help me get back up. I was using the weed eater and slipped on some of the weeds. I slid further down the hill than I could maneuver back up to the top. We live out in the country like you do, and no one to hear me. Bill does not usually pay attention to what I’m up to anymore. So he probably would not have checked on me until lunch time. You know men and meals! :o) Be safe, and keep your phone handy. We are always just a fall away from danger or something else. Or in your case as Carolyn mentioned a snake. (thankfully we don’t have any poisonous snakes in this area)

Absolutely no cell service once I get about 10′ from the house. Sometimes my phone will say “emergency calls” but most of the time, it just says no service. It wouldn’t do me any good to have the phone outside with me.

Yep I am with Judy .. Even tho I have a wifi that is supposed to 500 feet from the base, it doesn’t go through the walls that well when I have my phone outside. So I don’t carry it and the hubs gets very upset when I don’t answer a text immediately, then I have to call him as he cannot accepts texts from me as he is driving the company truck and is on video for every thing he does in that vehicle. Sooooooooooooo what can I say other than be careful and carry a BIG stick .. hehehe
