Whoa! I am feeling seriously behind here!
Tuesday the yarn for my June Camp Loopy project arrived. It was my fault it was late .. I wasn’t going to do Camp Loopy and then changed my mind so I was late with getting the yarn ordered. Yesterday I got started knitting and this is how far I got.
That isn’t much progress considering it’s June 8 and I have 22 more days left. I need to work til I have 56 stitches on the needles before I start decreasing. Right now I will have 17. By the end of today, I would like to have 32. The rows start getting longer so I don’t know if that’s possible . . there’s a bucket of beans waiting to be snapped and canned but with Vince not coming home for lunch, that gives me a bit of extra time. So . . here’s my plan:
- End of the Day Today – 32 Stitches
- End of the Day Friday – 40 Stitches
- End of the Day Saturday – 45 Stitches
- End of the Day Sunday – 48 Stitches
- End of the Day Monday – 51 Stitches
- End of the Day Tuesday – 53 Stitches
- End of the Day Wednesday – 56 Stitches
Then, I will start back in reverse. If all goes according to the plan, I should be done by June 20 so that gives me a few days of wiggle room.
But, last night I was reading through Ravelry before going to bed and what did I see? The July project requirements were posted. That’s a bit early and with my project being behind, I was in a bit of a “what am I going to do?” mood so . . I went to bed.
This morning I spent a few minutes planning how to finish the June project on time and it’s very do-able. Then I searched for the perfect pattern for July – something that was written in 2014 or earlier. I wanted something that I would love knitting on, something I would love wearing and something one color so I don’t have to deal with multiple yarns. I have had Midnight Craving in my library for a while and Jennifer Weissman’s patterns are always easy to follow so . . Midnight Craving it is.
Then it was time for the yarn search. I wanted something solid-ish. After looking at the Midnight Craving projects, I decided I’d like heavy fingering or maybe even sport weight. I’m a fairly loose knitter and sometimes, fingering weight shawls end up a bit too loose if I don’t go down a needle size. If I have to change needle sizes, I’d rather go up a needle size on something with a deadline. When I saw the Blue Sky Fibers’ Royal yarn and read the reviews, that was the perfect yarn so I ordered it in the Laurel color.
Now I’m really excited about that project! But first, I have to get the June project done . . and I will get it done on time!

I love how you are always so optimistic that you will get a project done…and then YOU DO!!! You are amazing…and now both of these are in my favorites. Do you wear your shawls a lot?

I just started my Fen Sprite shawl yesterday, I’m at 10% today. Wondering if I’ll finish by july too. What is the name of the loopy project? I like the Midnight craving too, it looks warm and the cable is an interesting addition.
