This morning I was up before the alarm went off – lots to get done. I began getting things all set up and prepped and a couple of times, I told myself . . you are NOT going to get all this done before the old knee and the old ankle and the old foot start killing you . . and I was right. But everything is done and I’m waiting for the mail lady to bring a package and then I’m taking a nap . . and if she doesn’t come soon, I’m taking a nap and I’ll wake up when she calls me.
- The milk is for yogurt. I use almost a half gallon of milk to make yogurt once or twice a week.
- Two half gallons of tea brewing. Vince likes less sugar in his so I make him one and me one.
- Beans to be canned.
- Kombucha brewing.
- Eggs cooling for tuna salad for lunch.
- Whey strained off the yogurt I made Friday. I will give that to the chickens or pour it around the tomato plants.
Everything go done.
I was happy to get 15 more pints of green beans. That makes 19 pints of green beans done. If I get 52 pints, we can have one pint per week. If I get 104 pints, I can have green beans twice a week. I seriously doubt I get 100+ pints of green beans this year but . . you never know!
I even made a double batch of zucchini bread. Seven mini loaves and two full size loaves.
The mail lady has not called . . I’m turning the phone volume up so hopefully I’ll hear it and I’m going to take a nap!

Soooo productive!! I am proud to say that this city girl has now harvested 4 lbs of blackberries of a bush that has been nurtured for the past three years; this is it’s first harvest and I am thrilled!
And wait, whey around the tomatoes??? Please explain…is this something that will make my tomatoes grow better?

Please share your recipe for zucchini bread. Mine are finally producing!

If you eat green beans fresh as well, you won’t need 52 pints to have beans every week. I miss my fresh green beans – the ones from the grocery store just aren’t as good.

I make my yogurt just about like you do Judy, except I use fage brand whole milk Greek yogurt for starter and then some from my batches for starter. After I strain it I like to use the whey for liquid in bread baking.

All those green beans looks so pretty. I love them and when we had a big garden, I did can some too. Haven’t had fresh ones now for 4 yrs or more. I could eat one of those zucchini loaves right now with a cup of tea. Yummy. I think I’ll have to get a plant from WalMart to grow some (or at least try) if they still are available.

If your green beans produce for 6 weeks during the growing season, you only need 46 pints to have green beans weekly because you can have fresh for 6 weeks.
