The big Miss Grace shawl is finished.
When I first looked at this pattern, I thought “no way”. The construction is so different, including lots and lots of short rows. The pattern was written so unlike anything I had ever done and I almost decided not to do it but after looking at all the gorgeous projects and realizing at least 300 people had already made this pattern, many making it two or three times because they loved it so much . . if 300 other folks can figure this out, so can I.
The yarn definitely makes a huge difference in how the shawl looks. Some that others had made I absolutely loved and some . . not so much. I dug through my stash .. you remember that I wound at least 50 balls of yarn while trying to come up with a combination of three yarns to yield the look I wanted. In fact, the first combination of yarn I started using didn’t work. It was the same brown, the same goldy/orange but with a yellow instead of the green and the yellow blended with the goldy/orange so I started over and switched it out for the green. I love the combination I used.
This is sport weight yarn and I used 1,500 yards. It’s big and snuggly and I love it!
There are a few other things I want to make . . mostly I want to finish up some projects that are started, but I am going to make another Miss Grace.
I think this is the yarn I may use for my second one. I learned with the first one that combinations don’t always work like I think they will so I’m going to start it with this yarn. I may end up changing my mind. One thing for sure .. there’s plenty of yarn to choose from without having to buy more yarn. 🙂

This is so GORGEOUS!!! “If” you decide you don’t like it anymore, I’d be happy to take it off your hands, LOL.

Good Gravy, Judy! That is stunning! Was it as hard as you first thought it to be? I’m working on a quilt like that right now. Just seems as if there’s be an easier way to put it together, but I’m following instructions. Not my strong suit! :

Gorgeous! A friend of mine made something very similar, but it is a cowl instead of a shawl.

*Beautiful* shawl. And a great size. The design looks really complicated. If anyone can figure it out you can. Obviously.

I love it so much. Wish I could get one in the works. Time, time. I know you don’t have any more time than the rest of it so maybe I just need to keep trying to get projects completed and on to the next. Thanks for your inspiration.

Judy, That is absolutely beautiful. I so love the colors you used and how it turned out. It looks like it would be even large enough to cover me. I don’t know though, you are so much shorter than me and if it fits you, it might be a cowl on me. lol

Gorgeous! I haven’t seen that pattern before, but it is so lovely it almost tempts me to pick up my needles again.

Judy, yours turned out just lovely! I ran through some of the pictures and saw exactly what you mean…I always wonder why some people put certain colors together. I’m more of a fall/neutral person myself! Your colors are perfect for this. I’m tempted…

It’s beautiful, I love the color combination! I would love to learn to knit, but my husband keeps saying ‘no, I’ve seen your quilting stash’. Of course if I went and bought the yarn and everything, he’d be right there with me helping to pick out things he’s sure I would need. Personally, I’m kind of afraid of the yarn stash after looking at all of my fabric. Anyway, it’s gorgeous, I’m so impressed every time you show us your knitted projects.
