For lunch today, I fixed the freeze dried peas. Those were amazing. First, I ate a few out of the package, still dried and I loved eating those like that. I could eat those for a snack.
I was a little apprehensive about tasting the peas since we’ve just having weeks and weeks of fresh pea from the garden but these were honestly . . as good as fresh . . really!
Even Vince said “How did you make these taste so good?” All I did was soak them in water to rehydrate them, add the soaking water and the peas to a pot and simmer them for a few minutes, add a bit of butter, and a bit of Slap Ya Mama seasoning.
The suggested serving size for the peas is 1/4 cup dried and I found that to be pretty accurate for a veggie serving for us.
I will definitely be ordering the peas and the apples to add to our emergency food storage bank.
For anyone wondering, we had cabbage rolls from the freezer (made in the Instant Pot), squash from the garden and fermented minted turnips, also from the garden, along with the peas, of course.
