It isn’t the dryer’s fault . . it’s that crazy location for our vent that’s causing the problems. Last year I thought I had it fixed with I sprayed weed killer all around it but apparently even that wasn’t enough to keep it from breaking. In the spring of 2016 it stopped turning itself off. The buzzer would go off telling me the clothes were dry and the heat would stop coming out but it was like it was stuck on “wrinkle free” or whatever because it just kept running. I tried unplugging it, I tried flipping the breaker, I tried everything and I couldn’t get it to work right so Vince messed with it, researched it on the internet and found out how to get it to diagnose the problem. It gave him a code and he ordered the part. One of the problems of living out here is that for the appliance people to come out and even look at it, it’s over $100. Of course they have to order parts and come back and that’s another $100 at least. So . . Vince was going to fix it. That sometimes ends well and sometimes not.
The crazy thing is that by the time the parts arrived, the dryer had fixed itself and was working again. It was maybe 2 weeks that it wasn’t working right. Vince kept the parts and sure enough, a couple of months ago it did the same thing. We decided to wait and see if it fixed itself again. It didn’t. It’s been about 2-1/2 months since it messed up. I have to leave the door open, with the light on, if I want the dryer not to be running. That’s great when I remember to do that but it means I can’t go to bed with clothes in the dryer (which I probably will never do again after this crazy dryer), I have to remember to open the door as soon as I hear the beep and I’m not always within earshot of the beep and sometimes I hear it and I think . . I’ll finish this row of knitting and then I’ll stop it and 2 hours later I remember again.
Vince has been super busy with the garden so I’m not complaining but I was losing my patience with that dryer. Last week I said “I’m not fussing at you but I need to get the appliance people out here to fix this dryer if you can’t get to it.” That was all it took. He told me he was going to fix it on “Saturday” . . today.
Sure enough . . it’s fixed and I’m happy to (1) have Vince who can and will fix everything and (2) have my dryer back working correctly!

That strategy works for me also. I will hire someone and that puts Mr. Wonderful into “fix it zone”. 9I’m onto him)!!!!

Same here, I will put up with something for a loooong time then one day I just snap and say the same thing–“I am hiring someone to fix the ………” and wal-la, it gets done! As far out as we live it would probably cost way more than $100!!
