The other day when I posted the three single socks, several asked about the patterns. I’ll give you the pattern links, as well as my thoughts on each pattern.
On the left . . the stripe:
The yarn is Turtle Purl Striped yarn and I love it because it comes in two identical skeins so it’s easy to get the stripes matched . . if you ever make the second sock! 🙂
The pattern is Smooth Operator Socks. It’s a top down sock with an afterthought type heel which is great for striped yarns because adding the heel doesn’t throw off the striping sequence. The pattern has excellent photos and detailed instructions if you haven’t done an afterthought heel before.
The middle sock is made with Blue Moon Fiber’s Tigger Targhee yarn. I normally will not use a yarn that doesn’t have nylon but I love Tigger Targhee. The pattern is Socks on a Plane. It’s a free pattern. It’s toe up and it has one side cable on each sock.
The socks on the right are Rose City Rollers. I modified the pattern to use sport weight yarn. With the short leg length, they’re very quick to make.
OK . . you get busy making socks and I’ll get busy finishing up some second socks! 🙂
