Remember the post I did with my yarn possibilities for the Miss Grace shawl? I went ahead and wound all the yarn I was thinking about using but then changed my mind again. This is the combo I was thinking about using.
When I got it all to the better light of the sewing room, I wasn’t so enamored with my choice. I couldn’t bring myself to use two yarns that were so solid. So, I began pulling out more yarn.
This might work but there I am again with 2 solids and that looks too much like Christmas but . . I could use a Christmas shawl. That multicolored yarn in the back is the same yarn as in the picture at the top. Looks different when wound into a cake, doesn’t it?
I could continue with blog post after blog post with yarn combos I tried. At some point I gave up on making Wollmeise work and went to the Bugga stash. This combo seemed good, based on projects I had seen online.
I began knitting but it was soon obvious that the two multi colored yarns were blending. From the picture, I wouldn’t have guessed that would happen.
Back to the drawing board . .
I swapped out the darker multi for a green. The green on the left is another Bugga, but I think it’s too bright. The green on the right is Dream in Color Smooshy with Cashmere (Bugga also has cashmere) so I went with that.
Here’s a horrible late night picture with life lines hanging out but I think it’s working up quite pretty.
