Our weather is looking pretty bad for tonight. My plan is to take a long nap and then I can stay up with Rita and Vince can sleep since he has to work tomorrow and I don’t have to do anything except get a haircut.
My real plan is: Get the crate out, put it in the sewing room and stick Rita in there. She’ll be safe; we can sleep . . but Vince won’t even think about doing that. Maybe I’ll just sleep on the sofa in the sewing room with Boots and Vince and Rita can have the house. All kinds of options . . but we’ll probably both be up with her half the night. We’ll start with the Thundershirt and the Bach Rescue Remedy drops and just in case that doesn’t work . . I’ll have a bottle of wine chilled . . for me!
Really, I could sleep right through it but I try to keep her from waking Vince.
First, I hope the storms aren’t as bad as predicted and there aren’t as many as are predicted (11 p.m./1 a.m./4 a.m./6 a.m.) and second, let’s hope that whatever happens, there are no injuries or property damages. Spring storms scare the heck out of me . . after seeing what happened in Joplin almost 6 years ago.
Don’t worry about me . . we’ll be safe. I’ll probably be checking in bright and early in the morning . . maybe after having had lots of “Rita interruptions” during the night.

Hope it’s not too bad for you – we’ve had a lot of thunderstorms passing through this afternoon, with hail warnings and tornado warnings….some have expired, but then new ones pop up. Sure would be nice if all we got was nice, slow rain, LOL.

I will get to sleep part of the night as it won’t hit here until about 4:00 tomorrow morning. My dog is terrified of storms too. Safety for all of us!

my older dog is really scared of storms so I know tonight will probably be a long one,but I love him enough to try my best to comfort him, hope you have better luck with your methods of thunder shirts and drops than I did.

Praying for safety, rain but no damage and Rita to be calmer. I know what those nights are like. We have a 75 lb dog that decides the only safe place during storms is between your head and the headboard. Plus the heavy panting. It’s uncomfortable for all involved. Check in tomorrow. So we know all is ok

We’re at the bottom end of it. Maybe some rain later, but the winds have been 25-30 mph all day and it doesn’t look like they’re going to abate anytime soon. I had a sweet little black cat who was terrified of thunder and would hide under the recliner during a storm. Although I miss the heck out of the little bugger, I’m also grateful he doesn’t suffer anymore during a storm.

Many years ago I had a Doberman who was terrified of storms. He was huge and very strong so his anxiety was something to be avoided. My vet would give me something he called an Ace tab. I think the real name was acepromazone. Obviously his dosage at 110 lbs would be too much for little Rita but I know smaller dogs can use it too. If I knew a storm was coming I could give him one and it really helped. You should check into it.

Remember I called you after the Joplin tornadoes, and you had me call Vince to tell him you were okay because you couldn’t get through to him? That was so scary. Thank goodness we don’t get those warnings were much way down here but I’m a nervous wreck until we get the all clear.
