If you think I’m neglecting the blog, that’s kinda how I feel too. I’ve been so busy with the garden that I haven’t had much time to do anything. Even my Cricut and the cover stitch machine haven’t been touched in two days.
The garden is 100′ x 100′ inside the fence. Every year I say I’m going to plant less and I never do. This year, we’re still not planting every square inch but I’m planting more than I’ve planted before. ll
Vince tilled it all up a week or so ago and I was waiting to plant the tender things til after a night next week when we had a low of 35° predicted but they’ve taken that out so I can go ahead and get things done.
Yesterday I planted okra and hoed the rows of snow peas that had not already been hoed. I got the plastic hung that I’m going to use for a trellis for green beans. I planted zucchini, yellow squash and Crane melons. I thought it wasn’t windy and tried spraying the foliar iron spray on the fruit trees but it was windy enough that it wasn’t working well so I gave up on that plan.
Today I hope to get the green beans planted, get some cucumbers planted and maybe get the tomatoes set out. I have big tomatoes in the greenhouse that I’m going to need Vince’s help transplanting so that’s a job for the weekend.
I have some rows where things didn’t come up, or they came up and grasshoppers/rabbits ate them so I need to replant those things.
So . . daylight til dark except when it’s too hot, I’m out in the garden working. Once the planting is all done, I can back off a little and just try to keep the weeds down til harvest time. I’m ready for a break already!

All I have at the moment is one raised vegetable box. I only had room for 6 tomatoes, 2 zucchini, 1 jalapeño, and 2 bell peppers. I told my husband that he had to make me at least one more box, because I want some squash, cucumbers, and okra. Would like beans also, but… maybe next year. My one box so far took almost 2 yards of dirt !
