Not for us . . but for Chad, Nicole and Addie. I’ve been waiting to say anything because they hadn’t said anything on social media but Nicole posted it the other day so I’m saying it too! 🙂
They moved back to the town where we lived in MO . . same town with Nicole’s sister, parents, grandparents, aunt, uncle, cousins . . whole family really. I’m so happy for them, even though I’m just a little jealous that they all see Addie every day. It’s good for Addie, and it’s so good for Chad and Nicole. They have friends there and family who can help if/when they need help. Chad was 18 when we moved to MO but I think that’s what he considers “home”. He has been in MO longer than he was in any other state where we lived.
I had planned to visit them at the old location in mid-March because it was “Lunch with Grandma” at Addie’s preschool but now that she’s not there any more, I don’t have a definite date. I’m trying to give them time to get settled and used to their new routine . . Nicole has also gone back to work, and I’m having to wait til my root canal issues are resolved before I’m comfortable going that far away, even though I have a dentist there that I like and I’m betting they would work me in if I needed help while there.
Chad was so ready to get out of the apartment and even though he has a bit of a drive because his store is in a different town, he was more than happy to take this transfer.
I’ve shown Vince a couple of houses on realtor.com and you can imagine his response. I think he’s saying “I’m NEVER moving back to that town” but surely there’s more than one way to interpret that! 🙂
Seriously, I’m not pushing for a move because who knows how long Chad will be there before he gets transferred again.
As for my trips, it will be a few miles farther .. probably not more than 25 miles, but a much easier drive because it’s interstate to almost within a couple of miles of their house, where before, I had to go about 30 miles on narrow, winding back roads after I got off the interstate.
I never learned my way around the last two towns where they lived but I think I’m pretty good now that they’re back where we lived for 4-1/2 years.
I’m so anxious to go . . to see them, to see their new place. I haven’t seen Addie since August and now with Nicole working, I hardly get to video chat with her either.

They are close by where Chad hunted and fished in Schell City.

You miss them, and especially Addy, but Chad’s at the beginning of his career so you’re wise to not be all gung ho to move near them. I’ve heard of parents/grandparents doing it, but you just never know were he will be sent next, or when. All the same, my heart about stops when my son talks about packing up and moving to the mountains. Those two little 3-year old grandchildren are just to precious to be too far away from grandma!

Feel your pain. I have no grandchildren, but my sons live 5 hours away from me. What with the two of them having different schedules, I don’t get to see them much.?

It’s good to hear that they’ll be near Nicole’s family. You’ll have fun visiting. You can look around town at all the red tags in the yards and say thanks that you don’t have to deal with that any more!

OMG! Thank you for reminding me of the red tags. I had not even thought of those. That’s probably the biggest reason I wanted to get away from there and I do NOT want ever live in fear of the red tag man again.
