Last night I was looking at little girls’ patterns online and going from site to site and I came across Children’s Corner patterns. Some of their patterns are $14 and up. I remembered . . I have a TON of Children’s Corner patterns . . somewhere.
Louise was one I saw online and thought would be cute for Addie and it’s $14. Look what I found first when looking through my box and I think the price tags say $5. Glad I kept those!
Those are bigger sizes but I’m sure there are smaller sizes in there somewhere!
There are so many patterns! I’m going to have so much fun.
I even found my old serger. Haven’t seen that thing in years and years. It needs some cleaning and oiling and new thread and it should be good to go.
I see my interest in knitting waning . . there’s a time for everything and I want to sew for Addie while she thinks it’s great to have clothes made by Granny. Most likely, there will come a time when she wouldn’t dare wear something homemade.
Going to dig through my quilting fabric and see if there’s anything that might work for a little girl’s dress!

I’m just wondering why you have so many girl patterns? Wishing and hoping someday? 🙂

I’m wondering the same thing!

Many of those patterns were bought even before Chad. I loved smocking and French handsewing and my friends had little girls. I was so sure I’d have a little girl of my own some day . . and I do . . but I didn’t know I’d have to wait for a granddaughter. I should have gotten all this out several years ago but I never thought much about sewing for Addie. She’s such an outdoorsy, rough little thing, but now she loves dresses. I’m not sure a couple of years ago that she would have been happy to wear a dress.

I recognize that New Look pattern — I made that one for my nieces. 🙂

Enjoy! I loved making clothes for my kids as they grew up. Even made a size 4 jacket, pants and vest for my son one Easter….he’s now 37. Time flies!!! My girls had matching dresses until they wouldn’t wear them alike anymore! 🙂 Make a bunch!!!

This just goes to prove the value of your stash! This is why you’re buying for retirement…while you can still afford it.

You are so right! I’ve thought about that often and the things I do end up getting rid of are almost always the things I wish I had kept.

Really looking forward to seeing pics of your creations for Addie.

Good . . because you know you will see lots of pictures. I’ll be so proud of myself! 🙂

I sewed most of my daughters clothes until she was 12 and than she didn’t want homemade anymore.

I know that day will come so I want to make the clothes and memories while she’s agreeable.

I am not a fan of clothing construction, but decided to make my 9 year old granddaughter a simple elastic waist skirt from a quilting fabric she had chosen. She didn’t like it because it wasn’t “swishy” when she tried to twirl. Just wanted to let you know in case Addy is big on twirly skirts that quilting cotton isn’t great for that. Some of those patterns look adorable though and my younger granddaughters (4 years in a couple of weeks and 17 month) don’t seem to be as picky as the older one. Enjoy. Good luck.

I waited til Addie got her Valentine’s Day skirt and made sure she liked it before planning to make more clothes. She’s pretty big into twirling so I wasn’t sure but she asked for more.

I made a lot of my children’s clothes when they were little. Thirty something years later, my middle son wants me to sew a shirt for him. Haven’t sewn clothes in 30 years, and don’t have him close by to fit. Keep your fingers crossed that it fits. Oh, yeh. Fabric costs a heck of a lot more now!

It’s so heartwarming to see that you are sewing clothes for Addie. When you make that “special” dress, have Nicole get a professional picture made with her wearing it. I have a couple of those wearing dresses that my aunt made for me and they are my favorite pictures 60 years later. Memories!

I have almost the same surger: 334D. Got it 30 yrs ago and it’s never needed service. One of the spool pegs broke and its attached by duct tape, but other than that its good. Sometimes I drool over the new ones, especially the air threading and automatic tension adjusting ones, but can’t justify.
