One of my favorite meals cooked in the Instant Pot is Cabbage Rolls. I know . . everything I make in the Instant Pot is my favorite meal.
I think of myself a decent cook and we eat almost every meal at home but I don’t know how I ever cooked before getting the Instant Pot. There’s hardly ever a meal that I don’t use it for something.
This morning I cooked rice in it for making cabbage rolls. Then I cooked the cabbage rolls and now I have a chuck roast in there. Three things in one day!
One thing people are understandably concerned about when considering the Instant Pot is whether things stick in the stainless steel pot. I’m not a big non-stick finish fan so I’m happy to have the stainless pot. This morning after cooking rice, I took this picture.
Rice can be one of the worst things to stick and after dumping this pot of rice, I was able to wipe it out with the soapy rag and rinse it clean. Simple!
But, this post is about cabbage rolls.
The only thing I do differently from the recipe are: (1) I add a bit of ground ginger or grated fresh ginger to the meat filling and (2) I add a bit of ginger and a chopped apple to the sauce. Also any meat mixture leftover that doesn’t fit in the cabbage rolls goes into the sauce.
This created a pot full . . probably too full but it still worked.
I didn’t have room for the chopped cabbage that goes in the sauce so I added that after the cabbage rolls were cooked.
The best news is . . we have cabbage rolls for dinner tonight and we have four containers of cabbage rolls to go into the freezer.
The recipe makes 15 cabbage rolls (because I divide it up and make sure that’s what I get) and that’s 2 for Vince and 1 for me for 5 meals. They are not hard to make and are not time consuming at all . . especially since I get 5 meals out of them.

I LOVE cabbage rolls! My paternal grandma made them and called them coosa (or koosa) so that’s what I always called them. Haven’t made them in a LONG time since it’s just me.

I am sold on the pressure cooking part of my new Instant Pot but I still haven’t found a slow cooker recipe I like–I’ve tried three recipes from the 365 Days of Slow Cooker recipes and didn’t like any of the three. I am going to try risotto in the pressure cooker from the website This Ole Gal.
