My friend over at Dirt Road Scrapper, which for some crazy reason, I always see as “Dirt Road Stripper”, posted about her 2016 Reading Challenge and she was following Modern Mrs. Darcy’s challenge. That got me thinking .. maybe a challenge is what I need to get me reading more.
I have a really bad habit of sitting in the evenings, when I’m too tired to knit or write or do much of anything . . and I shop online. For years, it was fabric. Lately, it’s been yarn. Now that my yarn buying is slowing, and I really do want to read more, I think a reading challenge is a grand idea.
Modern Mrs. Darcy has issued her 2017 Reading Challenge and there are two options.
I’m thinking the Reading for Growth list might be for me. Actually, I may pull from both lists . . no matter . . if I end up reading 12 books I would otherwise not have read, I think I’ll feel good about my reading.
Check out Modern Mrs. Darcy’s page if you’re interested. We’re a little late getting to the table but we can catch up and make up for 20 days I’m sure.
The first book I’m going to read is going to be from the Reading for Fun list and it’s going to be “A book you’ve already read” and that will be:
It was 2009 when I bought and read this book so it’s a fine time to read it again and I will start on it tonight.
Thanks, Dirt Road Scrapper, for bringing this idea to us.

A few years ago I listened to Atlas Shrugged while quilting with the longarm. Enjoyed it immensely!

Worth reading.

My hubby gets upset with me sometimes, because I tend to start reading, and block out the whole rest of the world… When I get on a roll, I’ll sometimes read 4-5 books a week. Then, of course, nothing else gets done…

Good choice

I read all of Ayn Rand a long time ago, maybe time to dig one out. I just finished reading “my grandmother asked me to tell you she’s sorry” by Fredrik Backman .. (same author who wrote A Man Called Ove) I’m not a fan of fantasy and there is quite a bit in this book, but it doesn’t overpower the book. It is a great story.

i just read a book ( in one day) called Dark Matter. For those of you that ever wonder what would your life be like if you had traveled road A instead of B, this is your book to read. it will have you totally involved with the characters from the beginning.

That’s a great idea. Reading and getting suggestions for new books. Hopefully you’ll enjoy them all.

I have always been a voracious reader. I can remember my mom and dad taking books away from me when I was young and telling me to go outside and play. I never read a book more than once, though. I just don’t see the point.in rereading something when there is a world of books out there and so little time to read these days! I read Ayn Rand’s books years ago and did enjoy them. .

Atlas Shrugged is my all time favorite book and I have read it several times over these many years. Enjoy it every time! Will look at the challenge and maybe join in as I don’t read as much as I used to.
