The end of the second day of quilathonning is coming to an end for me. My friend and I finished all our blocks today!
We were sewing shortly after 8 this morning. Vince didn’t come home for lunch so I ran back to the house, opened a jar of soup; she ran home and checked in with her family. While in the house, I stirred up a batch of muffins.
We’re still not sure about sashing but we’re having fun digging through fabric.
It’s freezing cold here! Most of the morning we had snow flurries.
My friend and I were sewing and I kept hearing something that sounded like a car door so I got up, went to the door and it was gunfire in the woods (National Guard). I came back and told my friend that it sounded like a war in the woods. Then we were sitting there and I happened to look out the window and I said “Oh, my goodness!” . . probably kinda loud and scared my friend. And then I said “It’s snowing!” It wasn’t really snow but just flurries.
Several times I’ve been out to give the chickens water and by the time I get back to the house, it’s probably already frozen. The heat is on in the coops so the water inside isn’t frozen but I don’t know if they can figure that out.
It hasn’t been above freezing all day and will go way. Right now, it feels like 7°. This is so cold for central Texas and for this southern girl!
Hope everyone is staying warm and getting lots of sewing done.

Yep, I’m freezing, too, but was out in it some. Very little accumulation but was a bit slick in places. I got a little done but not worth showing. Maybe more tomorrow. Was really engrossed in the shooting at the Ft. Lauderdale airport!!

I’m from Australia and this is my third winter in NC. One speck of snow is enough for me to yell that it’s snowing. Lol

If it makes you feel any better, it’s going to get to 26 here tonight.

well, here in central Indiana, it is 7 degrees going down to 4 according to the phone, according to fox weather earlier it will be going to negative numbers. for a girl who spent almost 62 in and around Houston, Texas it is way too cold. snow on the ground from the inch and a half or so we got yesterday. bbbbbrrrrrrrrr. got borders on the front of my buffalo quilt and have spent the two days trying to figure out backing. I thought I had some large pieces of fabric already in the box but it turned out I looked at the wrong box. finally figured out what I thought I was going to do and didn’t have enough of the fabric and changed three or four more times and then started cutting fabric and cut it wrong! got it refigured but my head started hurting and I quit before I made any more mistakes. will work on it tomorrow I hope. my daughter in law is coming over at some point to pick me up for grocery shopping and dinner at their house — not sure what time. keep up the good work.

After reading how everyone is suffering through cold and snow, I think Judy picked the perfect weekend for a quiltathon! I wouldn’t want to be outside and without everyone’s positive attitude about getting in to the quilting rooms, I probably would have just read a book or whatever. Thanks Judy!

My sons live in Dallas and sent me a picture of the snow they had today. I live near the coast and maybe get snow about every ten years or so. I feel for you ! It didn’t get above 34 here today and I am freezing. Didn’t poke my nose out all day. Got all of my En Provence units finished and pieced the first block. Pressed all the seams in the wrong directions. Hopefully will get them right on the next block!

Oh, Helena hit you, too? It’s snowing here still. It means I’m not doing something I was supposed to do tomorrow and will finally, I HOPE, get to sew all day!

Beautiful blocks! It sounds like a good plan to stay inside. It’s cold here too, In in Copenhagen in Denmark. We’ve had snow – but not snow that stays on the ground yet. It’s freezing here too, and I really do not like that. Oh well, before we know it, it’ll be spring. Right?
