Our first Quiltathon of 2017 begins tomorrow. Getting meals planned and ready has been the biggest preparation for me.
Some days I almost feel like a con artist or worse. I’ve become quite proficient and cooking something and making it last for days and days!
Tonight we’re having baked ham, kale chips, butter beans and popovers. I’m going to steam some broccoli til it’s almost done and cook some rice and tomorrow I’ll chop some ham and make ham, broccoli and rice casserole. Monday I fixed pork carnita meat and we’ll have pork carnitas on Friday. Saturday we’ll have baked potatoes with pork carnita meat, cheese and guacamole. Sunday, we’ll have ham and potato soup, along with monte cristo sandwiches.
Done! Meals for five days with very little effort means lots more sewing time!
Do you have things done that will help free you up for more sewing time the next four days? Do you have your sewing area clean enough that you can comfortably work? Do you have all the supplies you need to work on your projects?
Let’s see how much sewing we can get done in the next four days!

I think I shall just come move in with you – ha ha!! I am making a huge pot of chili tonite, and will have it for dinner tomorrow as well, then am making bread for sandwiches, and I hope I should be good to go for at least 2 days 😉 ( we have sports on the weekend)

How exciting! I hope that I can sleep tonight for dreaming of 4 whole days of quilting!

Here is my solution for Thursday through Saturday – if you’re hungry, fix yourself something. LOL Sunday I won’t be sewing. Tomorrow, a friend is coming in the morning, so we’ll sew together, but I probably won’t get to sew in the afternoon. We are supposed to have a mild snow Thursday all night. I hope it turns major, and I am stuck inside for the two days! =)

It’s freezing and supposed to be colder tomorrow and Fri. so I’ll be pretty content just to stay inside. But I doubt I’ll be sewing the entire time. Still working on my trees and MAYBE I’ll get the rest of them finished up. That would be my goal for this weekend. You are a great meal planner and that ham looks YUM-MEE!!

I have a couple of Costco chickens that are going to turn into something easy sight the instant pot. I have ham and beans and cornbread in the instant pot. And want something with rice. Not too sure what though.
I have started my retreat already today. I am nearly finished with setting the blocks for a NYE mystery quilt. I did 42 blocks. I have 18 left to get together. Will make two borders and am going to scallop the edge. First time ever for this so I’m excited.
I spent several hours last night squaring up 3.5 squares for Bonnie hunters mystery. I have soooo much more to do on it, so that will be my main focus for this quiltathon. I am going to go up to my sewing domain and spend a few minutes tidying so I’m ready for the morning.

YUMMY!! We have had our son home who is a chef at a local college. Since the kids are on winter break, he has been on break too. We have been fortunate to have him cook for us here at home. Darn, he goes back to work next week. Enjoying having to NOT plan and make meals!
